What is the American Pit Bull Terrier breed standard?

What is the American Pit Bull Terrier AKC breed standard?
In AKC, the American Pit Bull Terrier is referred to as the American Staffordshire Terrier. When AKC recognized the breed, they changed the name to American Staffordshire Terrier. Below is the AKC, American Staffordshire Terrier Standard.
Are American Pit Bull Terriers kid-friendly?
American Pitbull Terriers (APBT) are generally very friendly and good with children. Especially a well-bred APBT. All of our puppies are raised in our home with our children and receive lots of early stimulation with children of all ages. The APBT's love for humans is why they may not be the best choice for a guard dog. That's not to say that they can't do it. I've known and met many APBTs who were protective of their families/loved ones and made good guard dogs. Their loving and caring nature makes them excellent dogs for children of all ages.
How big do American Pit Bull Terriers get in size and weight?
The ideal conditioned (healthy/fit) weight for an APBT is between 30 and 75 lbs. At Alpha Alliance, on average, our females are 45-65lbs and our males are 60-75lbs.
Per UKC: As a general and approximate guideline only, the desirable height range for mature males is from 18 to 21 inches at the withers; for mature females, it is from 17 to 20 inches at the withers.
It is important to note that dogs over or under these weight and height ranges are not to be penalized unless they are disproportionately massive or rangy.
Per ADBA: The ADBA APBT Heritage Conformation Standard® now includes an ideal conditioned show weight to be between 30 and 75 pounds. Above all, the American Pit Bull Terrier should appear to be an all-around athlete. His body is called upon for speed, power, agility and stamina. He must be balanced in all directions. Too much of one thing robs him of another. In his ideal form, he is a thing of beauty.
What is the life expectancy for the American Pit Bull Terrier breed?
Life expectancy for the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is 12-16 years. In our dogs, we have a dog within our pedigree that lived to be 20 years old and several others that made it to 16+.

I do not live close to your Kennel. Do you offer transport or delivery services if I were to get a puppy from Alpha Alliance Kennels?
Yes, we offer ground transportation and flight nanny services.
Shipping anywhere in the United States can range between $550 and $1,500 depending on the pup size, delivery method (air or ground), location, and availability.
International shipping rates vary, anywhere from $2,800-$3,500. Depending on regulations and additional paperwork required.

What is a flight nanny?
A flight nanny is where we have a member of our team or a hired professional to fly with you from our local airport to your local airport. You would then meet the flight nanny at the airport to pick up your puppy and then they would fly right back out on the next available flight. If choosing the flight nanny option, you pay for the cost of your pup carrier ($30-$50), the pet fee for the pup to fly in the cabin ($100-$175), the cost of the flight nanny’s ticket, and the $200 pet sitting fee for the flight nanny. The $200 covers 10 hours of transport; any travel time over 10 hours is an additional $20 per hour.
How many litters does Alpha Alliance have per year?
1-3 litters per year.
Do you know what litters you will be having in advance?
Yes, each breeding is carefully thought out and planned out 18-36 months in advance. If you are not ready now, you can always be put on our Notification list for future breeding.
How much do American Pit Bull Terrier puppies cost?
An Alpha Alliance American Pit Bull Terrier Puppy will range from $2,500 - $4,500. This is just an average. For pet homes, our puppies start at $2,500. Breeding and show/performance prospects begin at $3,000.
Alpha Alliance is one of the few American Pit Bull Terrier breeders, that offers a health guarantee on our puppies.
Do we offer payment plans or flexible payment schedules?
Yes, we do offer payment plans and flexible payment schedules. Even with a payment plan 50% of the cost of the puppy must be paid by 6 weeks. This is when everyone typically selects their puppy. The remaining balance must be paid in 7 weeks, which is approximately one week before you will meet your new family.
